1) Several states in the US offer subsidized renewable power contracts ranging up to 20 cents per kilowatt-hour or more. At these prices, a 5 Megawatt solar photovoltaic facility could generate rates of return exceeding 15%.
2) If this power were used to support some downstream product (such as almonds or green ammonia) the rate of return could exceed 20% or more.
3) Recently, an affiliate sold a 5 Megawatt facility for $19 million dollars against a construction cost of about $12 million producing a profit margin exceeding 50%.
